Discover Education of the Future
Education is the single most powerful leverage we have to address the needs of our future. Nelson Mandela
There are no ordinary children.
John Dewey said in his classic, Democracy and Education, that a true education teaches people to learn. Once someone knows they can learn, they can accomplish anything they put their minds, hearts, and hands to.
In one sense, we are designing the future through education. Teaching diplomacy, tolerance, listening, patience, and acceptance along with math and reading creates a tipping point for world change.
The world is counting on our learning how to get along, how to nurture each other and thrive in an ever expanding global landscape. More than ever, it has become clear that we are all inter-connected and inter-dependent. Changes in climate in one country are affecting commerce in others. Food supplies, fuel supplies, and natural disasters put exceedingly more pressure on our systems than they were designed to withstand.
In times of change, learners inherit the Earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists. Eric Hoffer
Over the past decades there have been unbelievable breakthroughs in thinking about how people learn and what a human being is capable of. The Biology of Belief, The Divine Code of Life, Tomorrow's Children, The Schools Our Children Deserve, all point to a changing world of the design of a human being. For example, there is science that proves our genes are affected by our environment, how people think of us, and language.
The Transformation of Education Foundation has been founded to bring together a cohesive platform for these brilliant thinkers and offer innovative ideas, creative curriculums, and community to all those who want it.
Education gives us the fastest route to anywhere you/we want to go…learn, work hard, put your mind to it, invest your sweat equity…and you will get there. In one generation welfare recipients can have college bound kids who are never on welfare as adults. We have the capacity, with 21st century technology, to deliver world -class education to anyone, anywhere…
The future of education will go beyond traditional classrooms to include programs that are web-based and flexible. The future of schoolrooms will be mobile, free, with tutorials, testing, video, gaming, practices, and the curriculum will be totally relevant.
Web-based education allows for students to work at their own pace, test out of programs , ask for help, change geographic locations without losing ground, and get involved with like-minded communities on a global scale (chat-forums)
What about Teachers?
A teacher’s job is and has always been to hold the space for an extraordinary being to discover who they are. To draw the best from a curious child, to encourage the light to glow brighter.
Just like students of the future, teachers will have to learn how to teach on-line. They will have to learn how to develop dialogues through different means than face-to-face classroom time.
Every single student has the capabilities of going to college, if they choose. Everyone on this planet can become anything they desire and are willing to work for. Access to technology and developing on-line interactive curriculum, video conferencing, and real time dialogue will allow many more people from different regions and different time zones to interact together for learning.
A teacher’s job is to be an inspiration to the student, help them stretch and grow through failure and mistakes and never, ever forget that they are the future of our world.
What is changing is the environment and focus.
Again, welcome to the future of education. |
